2016-17: Grant made a big impact in the backstroke races. He entered the record book in the 100-back. His time of 52.96 in the 100-back puts him seventh-best in Valpo history for that race and second-best on the team. He also ranked second on the team in the 200-back, where he posted a time of 1:57.80. Grant contributed in several sprint freestyle races, as well. He swam a 23.53 in the 50-free, 51.19 in the 100-free and 2:03.13 in the 200-free. He led off, swimming the backstroke leg of the 400-medley relay at the Horizon League Championships which posted a time of 3:31.74. That time moves the relay into seventh place all-time in Valpo history.
2015-16: Stood out in the backstroke events for Valpo during his sophomore year ... ranked fourth on the team in the 100 back (54.05) and second in the 200 back (1:57.41) ... moved up to seventh position all-time at Valpo in the 200 back and also cracked the top-10 chart for the 100 back in 10th position ... also swam the gamut of freestyle events, posting top times of 24.63 in the 50 free, 1:53.70 in the 100 free, 5:04.95 in the 500 free, 10:59.88 in the 1000 free and 18:18.04 in the 1650 free ... member of the Horizon League Academic Honor Roll.
2014-15: Swam freestyle and backstroke events for the Crusaders as a freshman ... posted top times of 5:01.41 in the 500 free, 10:43.80 in the 1000 free, 17:33.21 in the 1650 free, 57.63 in the 100 back, 1:58.39 in the 200 back and 2:20.27 in the 200 IM ... moved into ninth in program history in the 200 backstroke ... ranked second on the team in the 1650 free, third in the 500 and 1000 frees, and fourth in the 100 and 200 backs ... finished 16th in the 1650 free at the Horizon League Championships.
Prep: Four-time letter-winner for the Aviators...three-time conference champion...also played water polo where he was a three-time letter-winner...part of first team from Ohio to qualifiy for Junior Olympics.
Personal: Son of Chris and Diana Girten ... major is actuarial science.
