Kayla Krueger (Spring Lake, Mich. / Spring Lake) capped off a Top-10 finish on Sunday at the Benbow Invitational hosted by Butler at Jacksonville Beach Golf Course in Jacksonville Beach, Fla. The senior posted the Valparaiso University women’s golf team’s best round for the second consecutive day.
How It Happened
- Krueger turned in an 80 over the final round of the event to finish with a 36-hole score of 154. This marked her third Top-10 showing of the season and the sixth time this year a Valpo golfer has finished in an event’s Top 10.
- Rookie Maddison Murphy (Bloomington, Ill. / University) had the team’s second-best score on Tuesday, posting an 83. Fellow freshman Cailey Rooker (St. Joseph, Mich. / St. Joseph) was second on the team for the tournament with a 36-hole score of 166 to tie for 47th.
- Valpo carded a 332 on Tuesday to finish at 663. The squad placed 12th on the team leaderboard, finishing ahead of Eastern Illinois and Savannah State.
Valpo will partake in the Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate beginning on Sunday at Sevierville Golf Course in Sevierville, Tenn.
