2022: Cracked the program record book in the hammer throw with a toss of 55.91m (183-5) at the MVC Outdoor Championships that ranks fourth in program history... Set a PR in the weight throw on Feb. 19 at the ISU Open with a mark of 16.82m (55-2.25)... Earned Valparaiso University Presidential Academic Honors.

2021: Had his best indoor shot put of the season on Feb. 5 at the GVSU Snowdown Showdown, heaving 42-8.75 (13.02m)… His top indoor weight throw came on Feb. 5 at the GVSU Snowdown Showdown at 50-8.25 (15.45m)… Ranked second on the team in the outdoor discus, topping out at 144-1 (43.91m) at the MVC Championships on May 14… Turned in a 166-8 in the outdoor hammer on April 16 at the Gibson Invitational… Earned MVC Commissioner’s Academic Excellence Award, MVC Academic Honor Roll and Valparaiso University Presidential Academic Honors.

2020: Recorded his career-best shot put in his first meet of the season, a throw of 46-1¼ (14.05m) on Jan. 17 at the GVSU Bill Clinger Classic in Allendale, Mich. The mark would stand as the team’s best of the season… Pulled off consecutive second-place finishes in the weight throw after hitting 53-5 (16.28m) at the John Gartland Invitational on Jan. 25 and 53-4½ (16.27m) at the Windy City Rumble on Feb. 8… Set a career-best mark in the weight throw on Feb. 5 at the GVSU Big Meet, finishing fifth with a throw of 54-5¼ (16.59m)… Threw for 51-11¼ (15.83m) in the weight throw and 40-9¾ (12.44m) in the shot put at the MVC Indoor Championships, hosted by UNI on Feb. 29- March 1.

2019: The freshman saw regular throwing action in the indoor season… Had his best indoor shot put (42-4½; 12.92m) at the GVSU Open on Jan. 25…. Turned in his best indoor weight throw (42-8¼; 12.89m) at the MVC Indoor Championship on Feb. 23. Was second on the team in the outdoor shot put with a mark of 42-0¾ recorded at MVC Championships May 12. Also at MVC Championships, Trafton recorded career bests in the discuss (129-4) and hammer throw (138-9¼).

Prep: Was a 2018 all-conference performer in the discus… Earned a pair of letters in both football and track and field… Was a two-year varsity starter on the football team and was named 2017 offensive line player of the year… Named a 2018 Illinois state scholar, a 2018 AP Scholar with distinction, graduated in the top 10 percent of his class and achieved high honor roll all four years.

Personal: Son of Dave and Hanne Trafton… Born on June 30, 2000… Majoring in civil engineering.
