Bowling Closes MOTIV Ladyjack Classic Sunday

The final tournament of the fall semester came to a close for Valpo bowling on Sunday, as the Beacons competed in a trio of best-of-seven baker matches on the final day of action at the MOTIV Ladyjack Classic in Kenosha, Wis.

How It Happened

  • Valpo opened bracket play against #13 Newman, winning the first game by a single pin. Newman came back to take game two to even the match, but the Beacons posted a 231 game three to go ahead 2-1. Valpo again edged the Jets in game four, this time by three pins, and then closed out the 4-1 match win by taking game five.
  • The victory advanced Valpo into a matchup against #22 Tulane. Despite the Beacons averaging 189.5 over the match’s four games, Tulane earned a 4-0 win, taking all four games by between four and seven pins.
  • The tournament closed for the Beacons with a rematch against #13 Newman. After splitting the first two games, Valpo posted games of 243 and 202 to take a 3-1 lead in the match. The Beacons had solid efforts in the next two games, rolling games of 197 and 190 in games five and six, respectively, but the Jets eked out seven and five-pin wins to force a game seven, where Newman closed out its 4-3 match win.
  • Valpo ended the tournament in 10th place out of the 16 competing teams.
