Bowling Picks Up Pair of Wins Saturday at Music City Classic
Payton Rowley rolled Valpo's season-best game on Saturday.

Led by freshman Payton Rowley (Stewartville, Minn./Stewartville), the #17 Valpo bowling team picked up two wins Saturday at the Vanderbilt Music City Classic in Smyrna, Tenn.

How It Happened

  • Rowley rolled Valpo’s best single game of the year in traditional team play to open up Saturday’s action, posting a 262 to lead the way as the Beacons began the day with a 987-844 win over Belmont Abbey.
  • Rowley’s 262 game bested her previous season high of 230, as well the Beacons’ previous season-best game of 255, rolled by junior Alli Eible (Burton, Mich./Kearsley) in the season’s first tournament. Rowley’s effort was just six pins away from Valpo’s all-time top-10.
  • Rowley paced Valpo in the second match of the day as well, rolling a 215 as the Beacons posted a 900 team score with a bye.
  • Senior Isabella Palamaro (Thiells, N.Y./North Rockland) led Valpo to an 867-828 win over Wright State in the third match slot, registering a team-best 198.
  • The Beacons were edged in the fourth match slot by #RV Central Missouri, 945-944, despite games of 213 by freshman Maia Struble (Anchorage, Alaska/Dimond) and 207 from sophomore Jen Patz (Naples, Fla./Naples).
  • Valpo fell in the last match of the day against Marian, 904-815.
  • The Beacons finished the second day of competition in 21st place out of 33 competing teams, with a total pinfall of 8,894.
