Valpo Bowling Recognized for Academic Excellence

Six members of the Valpo bowling team earned All-Academic recognition from the National Tenpin Coaches Association (NTCA) for the 2020-21 campaign, while Valpo also earned academic honors as a team from the NTCA for the sixth straight season. Valpo Bowling has had at least three bowlers honored each year of the program’s existence.

Graduated senior Payton Bertermann (Grayslake, Ill./North) earned NTCA All-Academic accolades for the third time in her four years at Valpo, while sophomore Noelle Doody (Tinley Park, Ill./Andrew) received the honor for a second consecutive season. Junior Allura Magsino (Hoffman Estates, Ill./Hoffman Estates) picked up the award for the first time in her Valpo career, while freshmen Addy Bates (Cedar Park, Texas/Cedar Park), Ruth Magaña (Federal Bay, Wash./Decatur) and Isabella Palamaro (Thiells, N.Y./North Rockland) each earned recognition following their rookie season. Bowlers must maintain at least a 3.4 cumulative GPA for the academic year to earn the All-Academic award.

As a team, Valpo posted a 3.42 cumulative GPA to earn the NTCA team academic award for a sixth straight year. Valpo was one of 59 programs to be honored for the team’s work in the classroom by the NTCA, which requires a cumulative team GPA of 3.2 or better.
