The Valpo bowling team returns to the lanes this weekend as it hosts its annual early-season tournament — the Valpo Bowling Classic at Stardust Bowl III in Dyer.
The Beacons will welcome 16 visiting teams to Dyer for the three-day event, starting on Friday. The tournament is Valpo’s 14th early-season home tournament in the program’s 15 seasons, with Stardust Bowl III serving as the host facility for the third time.
The tournament field features Aurora, Baldwin-Wallace, Carroll, Dominican, Elmhurst, Kentucky Wesleyan, #RV Lewis, #21 Lincoln Memorial, Marian, #9 Maryville, #14 McKendree, #13 Newman, North Central, #RV Oklahoma Christian, #20 UW-Whitewater and Wright State in addition to the host Beacons.
Friday’s action will begin at 10:07 a.m. and will consist of five sets of five-game baker matches. Saturday’s five traditional team games will kick off at 9 a.m. On Sunday, the tournament concludes with three best-of-seven baker matches in bracket play, beginning at 8:42 a.m.
