Germann Named CoSIDA Third Team Academic All-American

Valpo cross country and track & field graduated senior Katherine Germann (Cincinnati, Ohio/Finneytown) earned elite recognition Thursday for her prowess in the classroom and in competition during her career in the Brown and Gold, as she was named a CoSIDA Third Team Academic All-American. She is the 34th Academic All-American in Valpo Athletics history.

For the second consecutive season, Valparaiso University women’s cross country and track & field runner Katherine Germann (Cincinnati, Ohio / Finneytown) has been named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District team for her academic and athletic excellence.


Track & Field Welcomes Five Throwers to Program for 2020-21 Season

The Valparaiso University men’s and women’s track and field teams and head coach Ryan Moore have announced the signings of five new throwers for the 2020-21 season. The women’s team gained four throwers — Mackenzie Patten (Highland, Mich./ Milford), Lena Luebbering (Heyworth, Ill./ Heyworth), Victoria Gerhardt (Westville, Ind./ Chesterton) and Juel Wiseman (South Bend, Ind./ South Bend Riley). The men’s team also added a thrower in Jeremiah Johnson (Zion, Ill./ Benton).


Bruno Wins Conference Title in Mile, Joins Daggett with All-MVC Honors

The Valparaiso University men’s and women’s track and field teams wrapped up the indoor portion of the schedule on Sunday with Day 2 of the Missouri Valley Conference Championships hosted by UNI in Cedar Falls, Iowa. Alexander Bruno (Bloomington, Ill./ University) and Emanuel Daggett (Chicago, Ill./ Gavit) earned all-conference honors by virtue of their Top-3 finishes.


Track & Field Opens Indoor Championships

The Valparaiso University men’s and women’s track and field teams traveled to the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls on Saturday to open the 2019-20 Missouri Valley Conference Indoor Championships. Shannon Lahey (Dixon, Ill./ Dixon) became Valpo’s first female pentathlete in a conference meet since 2008 and recorded the program’s best score in the event.


Valpo Track and Field Indoor Championships Preview

The Valparaiso University men’s and women’s track and field teams will travel to Cedar Falls, Iowa to begin competition in the Missouri Valley Conference Indoor Championships, hosted by the University of Northern Iowa, starting on Saturday, Feb. 29 and finishing on Sunday, March 1. There will be live coverage both days on ESPN3 with Brad Wells (play-by-play), Mike Mahon (analyst) and Kelly Burke (distance analyst/track reporter).


Fischer, Daggett Lead Team as Track & Field Gears Up for Championships

The Valparaiso University track and field teams ended their indoor regular season on Saturday, as select athletes traveled to Notre Dame for the Alex Wilson Invitational. Sierra Fischer (Brookfield, Wis./ Brookfield [Carroll]) and Emanuel Daggett (Chicago, Ill./ Gavit) each set two top-5 times in the teams’ final meet before the Missouri Valley Conference Indoor Championships.


Three Valpo Track & Field Records Fall on Saturday

The Valparaiso University men’s and women’s track and field teams headed to Allendale, Mich. for the GVSU Big Meet on Saturday, save for a few of the men’s distance runners, who instead travelled to Boston to compete in the David Hemery Valentine Invitational. Sierra Fischer (Brookfield, Wis./ Brookfield [Carroll]), Alexander Bruno (Bloomington, Ill./ University) and Jack Worman (Hanover Parks, Ill./ Hoffman Estates) all set program records on a successful day for the program.


Fortener, Daggett Lead Charge as Valpo Enjoys Successful Saturday

The Valparaiso University men’s and women’s track and field teams wrapped up a two-day, two-city split schedule at the Windy City Rumble (hosted by University of Chicago) and the Meyo Invitational (hosted by Notre Dame) on Saturday. Day 2 was highlighted by Zack Fortener (Byron, Ill./ Byron), who launched himself into record books, and Emanuel Daggett (Chicago, Ill./ Gavit), who set multiple career bests and added a first-place finish.


Lahey, Paoletti Establish Program Records on Friday

The Valparaiso University men’s and women’s track and field teams are represented in a pair of meets this weekend, both of which got underway on Friday. The multi-event athletes traveled to the University of Chicago for the Windy City Invite, while others headed to Notre Dame for the Meyo Invitational. Shannon Lahey (Dixon, Ill./ Dixon) and Dominic Paoletti (Monroe, Mich./ Monroe St. Mary) both set all-time records for the Brown and Gold.


First-Place Trio Leads Valpo at John Gartland Invitational

The Valparaiso University men’s and women’s track and field teams headed to Terre Haute, Ind. on Saturday for Indiana State’s John Gartland Invitational. Lauren Mikolajczak (Bloomingdale, Ill./ Montini Catholic), Eddie Juszczak (Lowell, Ind./ Lowell) and Dominic Paoletti (Monroe, Mich./ Monroe St. Mary) each took home a first-place finish and helped lead Valpo to 15 top-three performances. Hayley Krulik (Crown Point, Ind./ Crown Point) cracked the Top 5 in program history in the weight throw.


Fischer, Bruno Set Program Records as Track and Field Resumes Indoor Season

The Valparaiso University men’s and women’s track and field teams returned from winter break to continue the 2019-2020 indoor season at the Bill Clinger Classic, hosted by Grand Valley State University in Allendale, Mich. on Friday. Valpo enjoyed a successful meet as Sierra Fischer (Brookfield, Wis./ Brookfield [Carroll]) and Alexander Bruno (Bloomington, Ill./ University) combined to set three all-time records for the Brown & Gold.


Fischer Enters Record Book as Valpo Opens Track and Field Season

The Valparaiso University men’s and women’s track and field teams opened the 2019-20 season Friday at Notre Dame’s Blue & Gold Invitational. Sierra Fischer (Brookfield, Wis./ Brookfield) started the campaign off on the right foot, nearing the program record for the 400-meter dash. Fellow senior Bryce Otterbach (Mendota, Ill./ Mendota Township) also enjoyed a successful start to the season, recording two PRs.
