Oostman Finals Appearance, More Top-10 Swims Highlight Third Day at MAC Championships
Valpo men’s swimming freshman Jackson Oostman (Aurora, Ill./Marmion Academy) earned a finals appearance Friday in the 400 IM, while the Beacons had a total of seven top-10 swims in program history on the third day of competition at the 2023 Mid-American Conference Championships in Oxford, Ohio.

The Valpo men’s swimming team put together three more swims which cracked the program’s all-time best on Thursday as the Beacons continued competition at the 2023 Mid-American Conference Championships in Oxford, Ohio.

Men’s Swimming Opens MAC Championships Wednesday
The Valpo men’s swimming team kicked off the Mid-American Conference Championships on Wednesday from Oxford, Ohio. On the first of four days of competition, the Beacons had a relay crack the program’s top-10 all-time in the event, while a number of individuals had time trial swims that ranked among the program’s all-time best as well.

The Valpo men’s and women’s swimming teams continued preparations for their respective conference championships on Friday as the Beacons welcomed Eastern Illinois and Wabash to the Valparaiso Aquatic Center. The men’s squad split the double dual, defeating Wabash as freshman Jackson Oostman (Aurora, Ill./Marmion Academy) earned an individual event win and led off a relay win as well.

Women’s Swimming Earns Victory as Valpo Hosts Senior Meet
The Valpo men’s and women’s swimming teams held their annual Senior Meet Friday evening at the Valparaiso Aquatic Center, honoring the members of the program’s senior class. When the competition hit the pool, the women’s squad earned a dual meet win over Rose-Hulman, emerging victorious in all but one event, while the men claimed five event victories.

The Valpo men’s and women’s swimming teams continued the fall semester slate Saturday afternoon as the Beacons competed at a tri-meet at Eastern Illinois with Bellarmine. The day was highlighted by sophomore Andrew Berzai (South Bend, Ind./Mishawaka Marian) touching the wall first in the 200 breaststroke.

Swimming Welcomes Graduate Assistant Tonya Guryeva
Valpo swimming head coach Maggie Kroemer announced today that Tonya Guryeva will join the program as a graduate assistant for the upcoming 2022-23 season. Guryeva spent the last five years swimming collegiately at Saginaw Valley State and Fresno State.
