Crusaders to Host Summer Softball Camps

The Valparaiso softball program will be hosting a pair of softball camps this summer.  The Crusaders will host a camp for youths ages 13 and up on June 18-20, and will host another camp for children ages 12 and under on July 16-18.  Both camps will be held on the Valpo campus at the Valparaiso University Softball Field.

Both camps will include defensive and offensive skill work followed by scrimmages on the final day.  Skill work for pitchers and catchers will also be held.  This will allow participants to learn new drills and put their new skills to work during live action, so the Valparaiso University camp instructors can continue to help participants improve on the field.

Football Camp Coming to Valpo This Summer

The Valparaiso University football program will be holding a one day, Junior and Senior Camp on Sunday, June 17 at Brown Field from noon until 4 p.m. and is hosted by the Crusader coaching staff.

The camp is designed to provide helpful instructional drills that will assist young athletes improve self-confidence in their ability to transfer proper technique to actual game situations.

The Junior and Senior Camp will offer specialized instruction designed to help high school athletes improve their football skills.  This camp, for all students entering their junior or senior years in high school, costs $35 for those individuals who register prior to June 1 and $40 for those who register from June 2 through the day of the camp.

Valpo to Host Tennis Clinics This Summer

Valparaiso University’s men’s tennis program will host weekly Summer Tennis Clinics for all ages throughout the summer months at the Valpo Tennis Complex.

Junior clinics, which are open for anyone ages 5-18 until filled, will run four days a week with sessions beginning June 11, 18, and 25 as well as July 9, and 16.  The super excellence group will run from 1-3 p.m., a junior excellence group from 3-4:30 p.m., and a beginner-junior group from 4:30-5:30 p.m.  Adult clinics will run from 7-8 p.m.

The cost of the clinics is $36 per week for adults and the beginner-junior group, $54 per week for the junior excellence group, and $72 per week for the super excellence group.

Women's Basketball Announces Summer Camp Dates

The Valparaiso women’s basketball program has announced the dates of three camps which will be held during the summer of 2012 at the Athletics-Recreation Center.

A one day Team Shootout will be held on Friday, June 22.  This camp is designed for high school varsity and junior varsity teams along with their coaches.  Each team will play four games and participate in an overtime tournament.  The cost of the event is $250 if a deposit is left prior to June 1 or $300 after June 1.

On Tuesday, June 26, the Crusaders will host its annual Elite Camp.  This is a teaching and competition camp for incoming high school students.  The camp will be run like a college practice and will be held from noon until 8 p.m.  The cost of the one day teaching and competition camp is $60.

Finally, a three-day Day Camp will take place June 27-29 from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. for girls entering third through eighth grade.  The camp will teach the basic fundamental skills of basketball with a strong emphasis on dribbling, passing, and shooting.  The cost of the camp is $140.

Crusader Men's Basketball to Hold Summer Camps

Valparaiso’s men’s basketball team will be hosting three basketball camps this summer for youths of all ages and skill levels.

From June 18-21, Valpo will be hosting two separate camps.  The Valpo Mini Camp will be held from 9:00-11:30 a.m. and is intended for children ages 5-7.  It will feature daily contests and games and costs $125 per camper.

The Valpo Basketball School runs from 9:00 a.m. until 12 noon each day and is intended for children ages 8-14.  The camp will contain daily lectures and teaching sessions, fundamental stations, 3-on-3 and 5-on-5 game action and daily contests and prizes.  It will cost $175 per camper.

The Valpo Basketball Academy will be held from Monday, July 30 through Friday, August 3, and is for youths ages 8-14.  The camp will run from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. each day, and costs $295 per player.  The days will include teaching sessions and lectures by Crusader players and coaches, fundamental stations, 5-on-5 games, a 3-on-3 league and daily contests and prizes.

Valpo Volleyball Team to Host Summer Camp

Valparaiso volleyball head coach Carin Avery and the Crusader volleyball team will host its annual summer camp from July 9-12, 2012 at the Athletics-Recreation Center on the Valpo campus.  The camp is open to both girls and boys, grades 5-12.

The Crusader volleyball 2012 summer camp offers a strong emphasis on fundamental volleyball skill improvement.  Groups will be divided according to ability.  Evening sessions incorporate competitive drills and games, leading to the Tournament of Champions.
