The Valparaiso University football program has announced its team awards for Week 10 following Saturday’s game vs. No. 25 St. Thomas.

Redshirt freshman linebacker Jake Birmingham (River Forest, Ill. / Oak Park and River Forest) was named the team’s Defensive Player of the Week, while junior offensive lineman Tyler Eberhart (Barberton, Ohio / Barberton) was tabbed the squad’s Special Teams Player of the Week.

In addition, the program has named the following Scout Team Players of the Week – freshman running back Andre Tarver Jr. (Kalamazoo, Mich. / Kalamazoo Central) on offense, freshman linebacker Wade Abrams (Fox River Grove, Ill. / Cary-Grove) on defense and freshman defensive back Connor Dickson (Libertyville, Ill. / Libertyville) on special teams.

Birmingham shared the team lead with 11 tackles after entering the game with four total tackles in his collegiate career.

Valpo will be back in action this week at Marist for an 11 a.m. CT kickoff on Saturday in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. The game will be broadcast on ESPN+ with links to live video, audio and stats available on ValpoAthletics.com.
