Valpo Football Announces Week 2 Team Awards

The Valparaiso University football program has announced its team awards for Week 2 of the season following this weekend’s game at Indiana Wesleyan.

Redshirt junior wide receiver Tytus Ragle (New Castle, Ind. / New Castle) was named the team’s Offensive Player of the Week, while redshirt junior defensive lineman Sam Hafner (Green Bay, Wis. / De Pere) was tabbed the squad’s Defensive Player of the Week. Redshirt freshman linebacker Wade Abrams (Fox River Grove, Ill. / Cary-Grove) was named the squad’s Special Teams Player of the Week, while senior Mohamed Kamara (Kalamazoo, Mich. / Kalamazoo Central [Hope]) earned the Hammer Hit Award.

The program also recognized redshirt freshmen Aaron Larkins Jr. (Plainfield, Ill. / Plainfield Central) and Jon Henderson (Macedonia, Ohio / Nordonia) as the squad’s Scout Team Players of the Week.

Ragle had three receptions for 41 yards including his first career touchdown catch, a 14 yarder with seven seconds remaining in the fourth quarter. Hafner shared the team lead with eight tackles and had two tackles for loss including one sack. Abrams blocked a punt to go along with his first career interception.
