Five members of the Valparaiso University football program received Academic All-District honors from College Sports Communicators (CSC) for their academic and athletic achievements, as announced on Tuesday morning.
Senior defensive lineman Kurt Kessen (Shelby Township, Mich. / Utica), redshirt junior defensive lineman Sam Hafner (Green Bay, Wis. / De Pere), redshirt senior linebacker Evan Annis (Hilliard, Ohio / Hilliard Davidson), redshirt sophomore running back Ryan Mann (Vernon Hills, Ill. / Vernon Hills) and redshirt junior wide receiver Tytus Ragle (New Castle, Ind. / New Castle) were all recognized. All of them were also members of the PFL All-Academic Team this season as well.
Kessen (mechanical engineering), Hafner (biology), Annis (bioengineering), Ragle (biology/chemistry) and Mann (finance) all meet CSC academic all-district standards by virtue of having a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or better. To qualify for the honor, individuals must also be starters or important reserves and have reached at least sophomore academic and athletic status.
College Sports Communicators will release its Academic All-America teams next month.
