Campbell Promoted to Director of Sports Performance

The Valparaiso University Department of Athletics and Senior Associate Athletic Director Merce Poindexter have announced that Luke Campbell has been promoted to Director of Sports Performance.

Campbell has served as Associate Director of Sports Performance since joining the Valpo Athletics staff in the summer of 2023. He will continue his role overseeing all aspects of strength & conditioning for the football and women’s basketball programs.

“I am blessed with the opportunity to continue to develop the student-athletes at Valparaiso University,” Campbell said. “My athletes are truly special individuals, grounded in hard work and dedication. I will continue to do everything in my power to help them maximize their athletic potential and develop the characteristics necessary for success.”

Prior to arriving at Valpo, Campbell garnered Power-5 experience at his previous two stops, serving as a professional intern for football strength & conditioning at The Ohio State University and at Michigan State University.

A Lewis Center, Ohio native, Campbell played football at Michigan State during his undergraduate tenure as a four-year letterwinner who saw action in 43 career games and made 26 starts. He was named to the Academic All-Big Ten team five times, one of five players in program history to do so. The 2021 team captain on the Peach Bowl Championship team, Campbell trained under highly-regarded strength & conditioning coaches Ken Mannie and Jason Novak. He earned his bachelor’s degree in kinesiology from Michigan State in December 2020 before completing his master’s in sport coaching and leadership in August 2022.
