The Valparaiso men’s basketball team was unable to overcome a hot start from the floor by Milwaukee Friday evening in the second round of the 2014 Horizon League Championship, as the fourth-seeded Crusaders fell to the fifth-seeded Panthers by a final score of 74-57.

Valparaiso opens defense of its Horizon League Championship at the ARC on Tuesday evening at 7:05 p.m. with a first round game against UIC. The Crusaders earned the fourth seed for the tournament after finishing 9-7 in league play this year, while the Flames are the tournament’s ninth seed.

For the fourth straight year, the Valparaiso men's basketball team was represented on the All-League First Team as the Horizon League announced its postseason awards, as senior guard Lavonte Dority (Chicago, Ill./Foreman [USF]) earned First Team All-League honors this season. In addition, freshman forward Alec Peters (Washington, Ill./Washington) and freshman guard Lexus Williams (Chicago, Ill./Marist) both earned spots on the league's All-Freshman Team.

Tickets are on sale Sunday beginning at noon for Valparaiso's first-round Horizon League Championship game Tuesday evening against UIC at the ARC, set for a 7:05 p.m. tip. In addition, tickets to a pre-game pep rally are also available now through the Office of Alumni Relations.

The Valparaiso men’s basketball team was unable to capture a Senior Day victory on Saturday afternoon at the ARC, falling to Cleveland State, 63-52. The Crusaders end the regular season in fourth place in the Horizon League standings and will open the 2014 Horizon League Championship Tuesday evening at the ARC against ninth-seeded UIC at 7 p.m.

The Valparaiso men’s basketball team looks to go into the 2014 Horizon League Championship on a winning note on Saturday afternoon as the Crusaders host Cleveland State in the regular season finale at 3 p.m. Saturday also is Senior Day at the ARC, as the four Crusader seniors will be honored prior to the game and will address the crowd following the game. The game is the HLN Regional TV broadcast, and will be tape-delayed locally on Comcast SportsNet Chicago at 7 p.m.

20 turnovers were too much for the Valparaiso men’s basketball team to overcome Tuesday evening in Dayton, Ohio, as the Crusaders fell by a 67-58 final to Wright State.
