Levingston Simon Joins Crusader Men’s Basketball Program

Valparaiso men’s basketball coach Bryce Drew announced today that Chandler Levingston Simon has joined the Crusader program as a walk-on.  A Chicago-area product who spent last season at UMKC, he will have three years of eligibility remaining after sitting out this season due to NCAA transfer regulations.

“Chandler is a tremendous young man who fits Valparaiso University very well,” said Drew.  “We are thrilled to have him as part of our basketball program.”

Levingston Simon appeared in eight games last season as a freshman with the Kangaroos.  Prior to the start of his collegiate career, he spent one season at St. John’s [Wis.] Military Academy, where he was team captain.  Levingston Simon played his high school basketball at Stevenson H.S., helping his team to a regional title in 2010.  He played AAU basketball for First Class in 2011 and was part of a squad which reached the Sweet 16 at nationals.  Levingston Simon played AAU in 2012 for the Indiana Dawgs as well.

Levingston Simon comes from a basketball-rich family.  His father, Cliff Levingston, played 11 seasons in the NBA and won a pair of NBA titles in the early 1990’s with the Chicago Bulls.  In addition, Chandler’s older siblings – brother David and sister Kelsey – both played Division I basketball as well.
