Valparaiso freshman guard Tevonn Walker (Montreal, Quebec/Vanier College) has been named the Horizon League Freshman of the Week, his first career weekly honor from the league office.
Walker averaged 14 points per game in the Crusaders’ three games last week, including a pair of double-figure scoring efforts. He opened the week with 12 points in Valpo’s win at James Madison in just 22 minutes of play. Then, in his first Horizon League game, Walker scored a career-best 22 points at Oakland on 8-of-13 shooting. The rookie added eight points on Sunday in the Crusaders’ league win over Youngstown State.
Walker and the rest of the Crusaders return to action Thursday as they host UIC.
