The Valparaiso University Athletic Department has announced details for Sunday’s celebration of legendary Valpo basketball coach Homer Drew’s recent enshrinement into the National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame.
The pregame ceremony will feature the unveiling and raising of a banner to commemorate Coach Drew’s high honor, allowing local fans who could not attend the Nov. 24 induction in Kansas City the opportunity to celebrate in person. The pregame recognition will begin at approximately 12:38 p.m., so fans are encouraged to arrive early for the 1 p.m. game between Valpo and Central Michigan at the Athletics-Recreation Center.
Senator Ed Charbonneau will present Coach Drew with a citation from the state of Indiana. The ceremony will also feature a celebratory video and a recognition of Coach Drew’s greatest accomplishments. Following the unveiling, the microphone will be turned over to the Valpo legend, who will address the crowd while standing on the court that bears his name.
In addition, Homer Drew trivia questions will appear on the arena video board throughout the day. To purchase tickets or for more information, visit ValpoAthletics.com/tickets.
