The Valparaiso University men’s basketball program has announced updates to the team’s nonconference schedule, including opponents for the multi-team event, the Savannah Invitational Hostilo Community Classic in Savannah, Ga.

The Beacons will meet South Dakota State on Friday, Nov. 25 at 12:30 p.m. CT in Savannah before continuing the Thanksgiving Weekend event by matching up with James Madison at 11 a.m. CT on Sunday, Nov. 27.

In addition, Valpo has added a road game at Samford to the schedule for Wednesday, Nov. 23 in Birmingham, Ala.

Valpo and South Dakota State will meet on the hardwood for the first time since a home-and-home series that concluded in 1976 with each team successfully defending its home court. The Brown & Gold defeated Samford 88-67 in November 2017 at the Athletics-Recreation Center. In addition, Valpo swept a home-and-home with James Madison in 2013 and 2014.

South Dakota State was an NCAA Tournament team last season, winning the Summit League with a perfect 18-0 record in conference play as part of a 30-5 overall mark. Samford is coming off a winning season as well as the Bulldogs went 21-11 in 2021-2022.
