The Valparaiso University men’s golf team continued to receive recognition for its academic and athletic success on Wednesday as the Crusaders placed two golfers on the five-member Horizon League all-academic team.
Senior Nick Seitz (Xenia, Ohio / Carroll) and sophomore Mitchell Wittmann (Kaukauna, Wis. / Kaukauna) were honored as two of the five players on the all-academic team, which was voted on by the Horizon League Faculty Athletics Representatives from each of the league’s 10 institutions.

Seitz, a two-time all-league performer who ranks second on the team in scoring average at 74.61, has notched his third academic all-league selection. The Biology & Chemistry major is one semester away from finishing his four-year degree with a perfect 4.0 GPA.
Seitz was the 2017 Valparaiso Laurel Award Winner, given to the graduating student-athlete with the highest cumulative GPA. He is a two-time all-league award winner and has posted three rounds of even par or better in five events this year.Wittmann, who holds a 3.96 GPA as a finance major, had his best round of the season on Sept. 20 when he carded a 69 (-1) at the Ram Masters Invitational.
Seitz, Wittmann and the Crusaders will compete in the Horizon League Championship at Mission Inn Resort & Club in Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla. beginning on Sunday, April 23.
