VanArragon Earns 13th Career Golfer of the Week Nod

For the 13th time in his collegiate career and the second time this season, Valparaiso University men’s golfer senior Caleb VanArragon (Blaine, Minn. / Blaine) is the Missouri Valley Conference Golfer of the Week, as announced by the league office on Friday.

VanArragon, who earned the team’s fifth Golfer of the Week nod this year, ranks third in MVC history in career Golfer of the Week awards, behind only David Perkins of Illinois State (15) and Dustin Garza of Wichita State (14).

VanArragon turned in a top-10 finish in a competitive, 96-player field at this week's Golfweek/AGT Intercollegiate, hosted at the par-72, 6989-yard True Blue GC in Pawleys Island, S.C. He posted a 54-hole score of 212 (-4), turning in a round-by-round line of 69-73-70.

VanArragon finished tied for second in the large field in par-5 scoring at 4.53 and produced 11 birdies in the tournament. This marked his 10th top-10 finish in his last 11 events, his seventh top-10 finish in eight events this season and his 26th career top-10 finish. His effort helped Valpo secure its fifth top-5 team finish of the season, this one coming in an 18-team field. The team’s 54-hole score of 868 ranks eighth in program history for 54-hole tournament low. In relation to par, the Beacons finished the tournament at +4, a mark that ranks tied for fifth in program history.

Valpo will play in the Demons vs. Beacons Challenge, a 27-hole event hosted by DePaul beginning at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 3.
