Taublieb earns League, National Honors after two-goal week
Zev Taublieb lines up his kick

Senior midfielder and captain Zev Taublieb (Malibu, Calif./Agoura) was named the Horizon League Offensive Player of the Week after scoring two goals in two games last week. Taublieb was also named to College Soccer News National Team of the Week for his performances.

Taublieb notched his first goal of the season on Tuesday night against Loyola, when he alertly found a rebound off of Nick Suker’s (Downers Grove, Ill./South) shot and put the ball in the back of the net for the overtime winner. Three days later in the Horizon League opener against league newcomer Belmont, he welcomed the Bruins with a nearly identical goal in the 14th minute to put the Crusaders ahead.  Valpo would go on to win the match 2-1 for its third straight victory.

Taublieb was the only player from the Horizon League to be named to College Soccer News National Team of the Week and the second Valpo player to receive the honor. Sophomore goalkeeper Nico Campbell (Kingston, Jamaica/St. George’s College) was named to the team for the week ending September 14.
