After a week off, Valparaiso’s men’s swim team returned to the pool on Friday evening and suffered a 154-96 setback to Wright State in Dayton, Ohio.
Trevor Trimpe (New Palestine, Ind./Connersville H.S.) and Kevin Fedde (Fort Collins, Colo./Heritage Christian H.S.) both registered event wins for the Crusaders on the night. Trimpe posted a six-second triumph in the 500 freestyle, turning in a time of 4:58.37 while Fedde edged the Raiders in the 50 butterfly by just .03 seconds with a time of 25.46 seconds.
David Sivak (Hobart, Ind./Hobart H.S.) added a pair of runner-up finishes for the Brown and Gold. The senior finished second in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:48.14 while his 100 backstroke mark of 55.54 seconds also was the second fastest of the day.
Guillermo Aguilar (San Salvador, El Salvador/Colegio Internacional de San Salvador H.S.) also finished second on the day in the 1000 freestyle with his time of 10:45.83. Alex Cox (Tinley Park, Ill./Lincoln-Way H.S.) touched the wall second in the 50 free with a time of 23.60 seconds, while Tate Wegehaupt (Tigard, Ore./Tigard H.S.) was less than a half-second off of the pace in the 100 breaststroke with his time of 1:01.85.
Valparaiso (0-6) will have another week off before returning to action on November 19 and 20 at the Coers Invitational hosted by Ball State.
