The Valpo men’s and women’s swimming teams will take to the pool 12 times over the next five-plus months in preparation for their respective conference championship meets, as head coach Maggie Kroemer announced the Beacons’ 2023-24 schedule today.
Prior to the start of intercollegiate competition, the program will host its annual Alumni Meet as part of Homecoming weekend Saturday, Sept. 23 at 8 a.m. at the ARC pool. The regular season begins across town at the Valparaiso Aquatics Center on Saturday, Sept. 30 when the Beacons host Southern Indiana for a dual meet.
Valpo will hit the road for three meets in a nine-day span in October, swimming at IUPUI Oct. 13, at Evansville with Southern Indiana Oct. 14 and at Bellarmine with Eastern Illinois Oct. 21. The Beacons return home to the Valparaiso Aquatics Center for a dual meet against Green Bay Oct. 28.
Valpo’s main meet of the first half of the season comes Nov. 9-11, as the Beacons swim at the A3 Performance Invitational in Carbondale, Ill. Fall semester action wraps up when Butler and Lewis come to town on Dec. 1.
Spring semester competition begins with road meets at Rose-Hulman (Jan. 12) and at Wabash with UIndy (Jan. 13). The Beacons host their senior meet on Friday, Jan. 26, a dual meet against Bethel, before wrapping up the regular season Jan. 28 at the Butler Invitational and Feb. 2 at UIC with Southern Illinois.
The women’s and men’s teams will then split off for their respective conference championship meets. The Valpo women head to the MVC Championships in Evansville, Ind. Feb. 21-24, while the men take to the pool for the final time two weeks later, March 6-9 at the MAC Championships in Carbondale, Ill.
