Valparaiso University senior Heather Hynds (Mundelein, Ill./Mundelein H.S.) was named the Mid-Continent Conference Defensive Player of the Week after leading the Crusaders to a pair of victories last weekend.

Hynds was a blocking machine on the weekend, averaging 3.20 blocks per game in wins over UMKC and Centenary. Against UMKC she tallied eight blocks to go along with six kills and a .333 hitting percentage. She came back the next night against the Ladies and added eight more blocks to help the Crusaders remain perfect (4-0) in Mid-Con action.
