Sunday, November 30, 2003

Valparaiso University's volleyball team will face ninth-seeded Nebraska on Friday evening in the First Round of the NCAA Volleyball Tournament. The Crusaders and Cornhuskers will meet in East Lansing, Mich. on the campus of Michigan State University.

Valpo (27-7, 13-1 Mid-Con), the Mid-Continent Conference regular season and tournament champions, set a school record this season with 27 victories and earned the Mid-Con's automatic bid after defeating Oral Roberts in five games in the tournament championship.

Nebraska (26-4, 17-3 Big 12) finished runner-up in the Big 12 conference this season, one match behind Kansas State. The Cornhuskers are ranked tenth in the nation in the latest AVCA coaches poll.

In the other first round match in East Lansing, the host Spartans will face Dayton. The two winners will meet on Saturday night in the Second Round. Match times will be determined later in the week.
