Senior middle hitter Allison Sears (Elkhart, Ind./Memorial) was named the U.S. Army Horizon League Scholar-Athlete of the Week by the league office this afternoon.

Sears posted 12 kills on .292 hitting and added three blocks in Valpo’s sweep last Friday at Youngstown State, and followed with ten kills on .333 hitting in the Crusaders’ 3-0 win at Cleveland State on Saturday.  The senior has been a big part of Valpo’s current eight-match winning streak, averaging 3.89 kills/set on .355 hitting while also tallying nearly a block per set during that stretch.

In the classroom, Sears carries a 3.88 grade point average as an elementary education major.  The senior was named to the Horizon League Academic Honor Roll during both semesters last year.  As a sophomore, she earned a spot on the Mid-Continent Conference All-Academic Team and was also honored on the Mid-Con Commissioner’s List of Academic Excellence.
