Entering the 2008 season, Valparaiso volleyball head coach Carin Avery owns 202 career victories on the sidelines, making her one of Division I’s most successful young coaches.

At age 36, Avery is the third-youngest active Division I head coach with at least 200 wins, trailing only S.C. Upstate’s Jennifer Calloway and Belmont’s Deane Webb.  Her career winning percentage of .719 also ranks among the top-five of Division I head coaches 40 years old or younger with at least 200 wins.

Avery has reached the 200-victory plateau in just eight seasons as a head coach.  In her six seasons at the helm of the Crusaders, she has guided the Valpo program to at least 20 wins each year while winning three conference championships and making three NCAA Tournament appearances.  Avery’s squads have also succeeded academically, winning the AVCA Team Academic Award each of the last five years.
