Following a 24-win regular season and a second-place finish in the league standings, five Valparaiso volleyball players have received postseason accolades from the Horizon League. Seniors Ellen Vanden Berg (Little Chute, Wis./Little Chute) and Sarah Dooms (Greenwood, Ind./Center Grove), as well as junior Morgan Beil (St. Louis, Mo./Marquette), earned spots on the All-League Team, while Emily Campbell (Grand Rapids, Mich./Forest Hills Central) and Morganne Longoria (Burlington, Wis./Burlington) were named to the All-Freshman Team.

The three All-League Team, which consists of 14 total players, honorees from the Crusaders match the number of award recipients Valpo has had each of the last two seasons, and increases to 20 the number of All-League honorees the Crusaders boast since joining the Horizon League in 2007. In addition, the Crusaders had multiple people named to the All-Freshman Team (formerly the All-Newcomer Team) for the first time since 2006, when Val Bollenbacher and Angie Porché were both honored by the Mid-Con.

Vanden Berg earned All-League honors for the second straight year after a stellar campaign on both sides of the net. Defensively, the senior led the Crusaders with 144 total blocks, tied for fifth-most in a single season in program history with her total from the 2012 campaign. Vanden Berg's 1.26 blocks/set ranked second in the league, while her mark of 1.29 blocks/set within league-only play also ranked second. Offensively, she was second on the team in both kills/set (2.45) and hitting percentage (.271), the latter mark ranking ninth among all Horizon League players.

Dooms earns her first career postseason award from the Horizon League after surpassing a pair of milestones during her final season as a Crusader, becoming just the second player in program history to tally at least 1,000 career kills and 1,500 career digs. For the second straight year, Dooms led all Horizon League non-liberos in digs, averaging 3.63 digs/set to rank seventh overall. Offensively, she paced the Crusaders with 2.69 kills/set and also registered 24 service aces, third-most on the team.

Beil received All-League accolades for the third time in as many seasons at Valpo after a strong season on the attack. The junior led the Crusaders with a .290 hitting percentage, which would currently be tied for fifth on the program's single-season chart. Beil's attack percentage also is good for fifth in the league, while her .667 hitting percentage (14 kills, 0 errors, 21 attacks) in a sweep at Youngstown State was the second-best single-match performance within league play this year. Beil also is third on the team, averaging 2.38 kills/set.

Campbell picks up All-Freshman Team honors after seeing regular action at outside hitter throughout her rookie campaign. Campbell was one of four Crusaders to average better than two kills per set, totaling 222 kills over the regular season, while she also was solid on the back line, picking up 244 digs for an average of 2.26 digs/set. She also contributed on the block, tallying 54 total blocks to date.

Longoria joins Campbell on the All-Freshman Team after stepping in as the Crusaders' starting libero from day one. The freshman proved more than up to the task, finishing second among all Horizon League players with 4.58 digs/set. Her 536 total digs are already tenth-most in a single year in Valpo history, while she was one of just two league players to have multiple 30+ dig matches this season. Longoria also was strong on the serve, ranking second on the team with 25 aces.
