Cookerly Earns Fourth Academic All-District Honor

For the fourth time in her career, Valpo volleyball libero Rylee Cookerly (Brownsburg, Ind./Brownsburg) has been named a CoSIDA Academic All-District V honoree, as she was selected to the First Team as released by CoSIDA today. She is now eligible for Academic All-America consideration.

Cookerly — who earned First Team Academic All-District honors for the third time — has continued to stand out in the back row for the Beacons this season. She broke both Valpo and MVC records for career digs this year and moved into second place in NCAA Division I history in the category, surpassing the 3,000-career dig milestone last weekend. Cookerly, who leads the conference in digs/set this season, is the two-time reigning MVC Libero of the Year and was an AVCA All-Region selection this past spring.

Cookerly has been a star in the classroom as well throughout her time at Valpo. She was a Second Team Academic All-American choice following the spring season and was named the MVC Scholar-Athlete of the Year for volleyball. Cookerly has been named to the MVC Scholar-Athlete First Team each of the last three seasons and was named a recipient of the Valley’s Presidents' Council Academic Excellence Award in July.

Cookerly graduated from Valpo in May with her bachelor’s degree in nursing, finishing her undergraduate work with a 3.96 cumulative grade point average. She is currently enrolled in the DNP program in Valpo’s College of Nursing & Health Professions.
