Valpo Volleyball Earns AVCA Team Academic Award

The Valpo volleyball program received the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award for the 2021-22 academic year, as announced by the AVCA today. It marks the 17th time in the last 19 seasons that the program has earned the award.

The team academic award is given to college and high school teams which display excellence in the classroom by maintaining at least a 3.30 cumulative team grade point average on a 4.0 scale. The nominating head coaches must be AVCA members. Valpo was one of nine programs in the Missouri Valley Conference for the 2021-22 academic year to be honored.

The team award caps another stellar academic year for the volleyball program, highlighted by the selection of Rylee Cookerly to the CoSIDA Academic All-America First Team — her second Academic All-America honor. The Beacons also tied for MVC-high honors as four players earned spots on the MVC Scholar-Athlete Teams — Cookerly and Brittany Anderson were First Team choices, while Haley Hart and Bella Ravotto earned Honorable Mention accolades.
