Three Volleyball Players Earn MVC Scholar-Athlete Honors

The Valpo volleyball team had a trio of players recognized on Monday as MVC Scholar-Athlete honorees, as the conference announced its Scholar-Athlete squads. Miranda Strongman (Wolverine Lake, Mich./Walled Lake Central [LIU]) was an MVC First Team Scholar-Athlete selection, while Bella Ravotto (Mishawaka, Ind./Marian) and Emma Hickey (Granger, Ind./Penn) both were named to the MVC Scholar-Athlete Second Team.

Strongman was a Second Team All-MVC selection this season. She averaged 2.20 kills/set on .302 hitting — the fifth-best hitting percentage in a single season by a Valpo player in the 25-point era and eighth-best across all eras — and 0.87 blocks/set. Strongman owns a perfect 4.00 GPA in Valpo’s health administration graduate program,

Ravotto receives the third MVC Scholar-Athlete recognition of her career this year, as she was previously a First Team choice last season and an Honorable Mention recipient in 2021. Ravotto averaged 2.26 kills/set and 3.03 digs/set this season, ranking 14th in the MVC in the latter category. She has racked up 1,641 digs over her five years at Valpo, placing her eighth in program history. Ravotto owns a 3.96 GPA in Valpo’s health administration graduate program.

Hickey ranks fourth in the Valley and 14th nationally with 5.25 digs/set. The sophomore libero became the fastest player in program history and in MVC history to 1,000 career digs earlier this year and already ranks 14th in program history in career digs. In the classroom, Hickey carries a 3.93 GPA as a civil engineering major.
