Valparaiso University’s Laura Rolf (Rochester, Mich./Lutheran Northwest) has been named to the ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District V women’s track and field/cross country Second Team for the second consecutive year, as announced today by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Rolf was named the Horizon League women’s cross country Athlete of the Year in the Crusaders’ inaugural season in the league. She closed out the 2007 campaign with five wins in seven races, including a victorious effort at the Horizon League Championship. The three-time Horizon League Athlete of the Week placed sixth at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional, earning All-Region honors for the third straight year, and registered a top-50 finish at the NCAA Championship for the second consecutive year.
In the classroom, Rolf carries a 3.50 grade point average as a new media-journalism major. She was named to the cross country Academic All-Horizon League Team for her athletic and academic achievements this past year. Rolf did not compete during the indoor and outdoor track and field seasons due to studying abroad.
To be eligible for Academic All-District, student-athletes must hold at least sophomore status, own a minimum grade-point average of 3.20, and be either a starter or key reserve. District V consists of schools in Indiana, Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Ontario, and Manitoba.
