Junior David Rutkowski (Cedarburg, Wis./Living Word Lutheran) crossed the line at 28:17.6 at the Iona Meet of Champions 8K Saturday afternoon in Bronx, New York good for 116th place out of the 20 competing schools.
Freshman Dan Walters (Crown Point, Ind./Crown Point) was right behind Rutkowski with a time of 28:23.28 which resulted in a 119th place finish. Fellow freshmen Jesse Greenhagen (Waverly, Minn./Mayer Lutheran) Max Morello (Plano, Ill./Plano) recorded times of 29:10.07 and 29:31.40 respectively.
Senior Matt Przybyla (Whitmore Lake, Mich./Pinckney) registered a time of 29:34.48 at a pace of under six minutes per mile.
On the women's side, Jessica Richardson (Columbus, Ind./North) continued her outstanding junior campaign clocking in at 23:29.84 which earned her 18th place overall.
Freshman Liz Bloy (Freedom, Wis./Freedom) finished in 45th place, crossing the line at 24:06.06.
The Crusaders also enjoyed a time of 24:45.92 turned in by senior Claire Johnson (Eden Prairie, Minn./Eden Prairie) with sophomore Hannah Schilling (Fraser, Mich./Lutheran North) just behind her at 25:06.87.
Sophomore Dezzarae Arce (Orland Park, Ill./Victor J. Andrew) was also in the mix as she recorded a 25:31.75 time.
The women's team finished 12th overall.
The Crusaders next meet is Friday, October 4th in Notre Dame, Indiana in the Notre Dame Invitational.
