Brown Receives Third Team Academic All-America Recognition
Valpo women’s basketball senior guard Olivia Brown (East Grand Rapids, Mich./East Grand Rapids [St. Bonaventure]) received one of the nation’s most prestigious honors for a student-athlete on Wednesday, as she was named to the College Sports Communicators (formerly CoSIDA) Academic All-America Third Team for her work in the classroom and on the basketball court. Brown was one of just 16 D-I players nationwide recognized as an Academic All-America selection.

Women’s Basketball Signee Layla Gold Named Indiana All-Star
Valparaiso women’s basketball signee Layla Gold (Indianapolis, Ind./Cathedral) has been named an Indiana All-Star, one of just 13 players in the Hoosier State to earn the distinction. Gold and her Indiana All-Star teammates will take on the Kentucky All-Stars in a two-game series June 9-10.

Women’s Basketball Season Comes to an End in Moline
The Valpo women’s basketball season came to an end on Thursday night in the opening round of Hoops in the Heartland, the MVC women’s basketball conference tournament, in Moline, Ill., as sixth-seeded UIC defeated the 11th-seeded Beacons, 72-47.

The Valpo women’s basketball team had a pair of players honored on Tuesday as the Missouri Valley Conference unveiled its women’s basketball Scholar-Athlete teams. Senior Olivia Brown (East Grand Rapids, Mich./East Grand Rapids [St. Bonaventure]) was named to the Scholar-Athlete First Team, while fifth-year Maya Dunson (Dayton, Ohio/Wayne [Loyola]) was named to the Scholar-Athlete Second Team.

Using one of the most prolific 3-point shooting games in program history, the Valpo women’s basketball team nearly took down MVC co-regular season champion Belmont at the ARC Saturday afternoon, but the visiting Bruins edged ahead late to earn a 70-67 victory over the Beacons. Valpo celebrated Senior Day on Saturday, honoring Ilysse Pitts (Aurora, Ill./Montini Catholic) and Maya Dunson (Dayton, Ohio/Wayne [Loyola]) as they played the final home game of their collegiate careers.

Valpo Announces Women’s Basketball Nonconference Slate
The Valpo women’s basketball program unveiled its nonconference slate for the upcoming 2022-23 season on Tuesday, a schedule which includes five early-season games at home at the ARC.

Dominique Doseck Promoted to Assistant Coach
Valpo women’s basketball head coach Mary Evans announced today that Dominique Doseck has been promoted to assistant coach heading into the 2022-23 season. Doseck is entering her fourth season on staff with the Valpo program.
