Valparaiso University senior offensive lineman Nate Blair (Crete, Ill./Andrean [Ind.] H.S.) has been voted to the Academic All-Pioneer Football League’s First Team for his efforts both on the field and in the classroom.

Greg Wood earned Second Team All-Pioneer Football League honors for his efforts punting the football this season while six other Valparaiso University players received Honorable Mention accolades. Sean McCarty and Nate Blair earned Honorable Mention honors on the offensive side while Nikko Carson, Cody Gokan, Pat Derbak, and Laurence Treadaway represented the defense.

The 2011 football season came to a close on Saturday afternoon for the Valparaiso Crusaders as the Brown and Gold fell to Davidson 30-22 at Richardson Stadium in Davidson, N.C.

Valparaiso University’s Eric Hoffman (Manitowoc, Wis./Lincoln H.S.) has been named the Pioneer Football League’s Co-Offensive Player of the Week after throwing for four touchdowns, including the game winner, last Saturday in the Crusaders’ 34-31 victory over Campbell.

Gabe Ali-El (Randallstown, Md./Polytechnic Institute) caught a nine-yard touchdown pass from Eric Hoffman (Manitowoc, Wis./Lincoln H.S.) with 3:09 remaining gave Valparaiso the lead and the Crusaders held on to defeat Campbell 34-31 on Saturday afternoon at Brown Field, sending the Valpo seniors off in style in their home finale.
