Piaskowy Leads the Way for Valpo at Notre Dame Invitational

Adam Piaskowy (Crete, Ill./Crete-Monee H.S.) led Valparaiso with a 79th place finish overall on Friday afternoon, as the Crusaders finished 24th as a team in the Gold Race of the Notre Dame Invitational held in Notre Dame, Ind.

Piaskowy turned in a time of 26:14 over eight-kilometers, marking a personal best for the senior.

Ben Radke (Crystal Lake, Ill./Prairie Ridge H.S.) was the second Crusader to finish, placing 152nd overall with a time of 27:37. Dennis Kabara (Chuka, Kenya/Meru H.S.) was four places behind Radke with a time of 27:39.

Jason Douthett (Highland, Ind./Highland H.S.) finished fourth for the Brown and Gold placing 179th overall with a time of 28:10. David Iott (Fort Wayne, Ind./Bishop Dwenger H.S.) rounded out the scoring with a time of 28:22 to finish 188th.

Notre Dame took the team title with 85 points, followed by Windsor with 93 and Calvin with 96 points. Valpo scored 695 for the day.

Valparaiso will return to action in two weeks, on October 16, when the Crusaders travel to Terre Haute, Ind. to compete in the Pre-NCAA Meet.
