The Crusaders totaled 254 points on the day. Butler took top team honors with a perfect 15 points, while the Bulldogs’ Andy Baker was the top individual finisher.
Valparaiso was paced by sophomore Jordan Piaskowy (Crete, Ill./Illiana Christian), who crossed the line in 28:28.5, good for 50th place. Freshman Patrick Johnson (Oil City, Pa./Cranberry [Monmouth]) was the next Crusader to complete the 8K course, finishing in 62nd place with a time of 28:57.5.
Johnson was followed immediately by a trio of other Crusaders to close out Valpo’s team scorers. Senior David Carter (Arlington Heights, Ill./John Hersey) placed 63rd with a time of 29:02.3, while junior Joel Hartenberger (Albuquerque, N.M./Sandia) crossed the line in 64th place, finishing the race in 29:08.8. Freshman Wally Bradford (Mukwonago, Wis./Mukwonago) rounded out the Crusaders’ top-five with a 65 place showing, crossing the line in 29:10.30.th
Valparaiso will return to the course on Saturday, November 14, traveling downstate to Bloomington to take part in the NCAA Great Lakes Regional. The men’s 10K regional race will begin at 11 a.m. CST.
