POSITION Assistant Coach

Miguel Pacheco joined the Valparaiso University tennis coaching staff in January, 2009 as an assistant coach.

Pacheco arrives at Valpo after playing for four seasons at Missouri Valley College in Marshall, Mo., where he helped lead the Vikings to the NAIA Region V runner-up as a freshman.  He played mainly third and fourth singles at Missouri Valley as well as first and second doubles, and was part of the Vikings’ squad that reached a #22 national ranking in 2005.

A native of Lima, Peru, Pacheco was ranked as high as 10th in the country in singles and fifth in doubles as a junior in the 18 and under classification.

Pacheco, a certified tennis professional by the PTR, currently works as one of the pros at The Courts of Northwest Indiana in Valparaiso.  He has previous teaching experience as the head instructor at Camp Starlight in Pennsylvania as well as assisting at the Straznicky Tennis Academy in Lima, Peru.

A 2008 graduate of Missouri Valley, Pacheco earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration.
