Ehm Sets Program Record in Indoor 5,000 at Meyo Invitational
Simeon Ehm (left) set a program record in the indoor 5,000 on Friday night at Notre Dame.

Not one, not two, but three members of the Valparaiso University men’s track & field team outdid the previous program record in the 5,000 on Friday night as the Beacons boasted their best performance in the evening’s final event on the first day of the two-day competitive Meyo Invitational, hosted by the University of Notre Dame in Notre, Dame, Ind. At the forefront of the strong showing was Simeon Ehm (Castle Rock, Colo. / Heritage), who is the new program record holder in the 5,000.

How It Happened

  • Ehm’s time of 14:38.7 was good for a top-20 finish in an extremely competitive field. Furthermore, he was one of three Beacons who outdid the previous program best of 14:43.69 set by Jack Worman in 2020.
  • The two Valpo student-athletes who now own the second and third best times in program history in the indoor 5,000 are Eric Carothers (Fishers, Ind. / Hamilton Southeastern) and Evan Walda (Fort Wayne, Ind. / South Side), respectively.
