Men’s Track & Field Finishes with Highest Point Total at Conference Championships Since Joining MVC

The Valparaiso University men’s track & field team closed out the Missouri Valley Conference Outdoor Championships with 31 points as a team, the program’s first time eclipsing 30 points at a conference championship – indoor or outdoor – since joining the Missouri Valley Conference. The event wrapped up on Sunday at Indiana State’s Gibson Track & Field Complex in Terre Haute, Ind.

How It Happened

  • A pair of distance runners scored points on Sunday as Evan Walda (Fort Wayne, Ind. / South Side) placed sixth of 25 with a time of 14:29.19 to earn three points in the men’s 5,000. Elsewhere in the distance, Simeon Ehm (Castle Rock, Colo. / Heritage) picked up two points for the Beacons by finishing seventh in the 1500 at 3:54.10.
  • Valpo also earned points courtesy of the 4x100 relay team of Anthony Vassolo (Tinley Park, Ill. / Andrew), Chaise Magnuson (LaPorte, Ind. / LaPorte), Nathan Wessel (Hartland, Wis. / Lake County Lutheran) and Tim Whitelaw (Park Ridge, Ill. / Maine South). That group finished sixth with a time of 41.81 seconds to grab three points.
  • In other relay news, the women’s 4x100 quartet of Kai Dilosa, Juliana Ferrara, Marion Isaac and Taylor Pusateri stopped the clock in 48.36 seconds, the second fastest time in program history and fastest since 2007 (Brody/Kloth/Wilson/Lane, 48.33).
  • In the men’s discus, Reid Davis (Nashville, Ind. / Brown County) led the way by placing 13th with a heave of 43.86 meters (143-10). On the women’s side, Tori Gerhardt (Westville, Ind. / Chesterton) turned in a mark of 36.16m (118-7).
  • The men finished in eighth of 10 with 31 points, the team’s highest total in its 13 MVC Championships (indoor and outdoor) since joining the league. This smashed the squad’s previous high of 24 points from the 2023 Outdoor and 2020 Indoor Championships.
