Valpo Drops Centenary 3-0 Friday
Friday, November 11, 2005
A strong offensive attack paced the Valparaiso University volleyball team to a 30-20, 30-15, 30-17 win over Centenary Friday night at the Athletics-Recreation Center. The win was the Crusaders' 20th straight win in their home gym.

Valpo responded nicely after hitting .091 in game one, hitting .438 in game two and .359 in game three. Jessie Fox (Granger, Ind./Penn) led the Crusader attack with 10 kills, hitting .348. Freshman Allison Sears (Elkhart, Ind./Memorial) played one of the best games of her young career with eight kills on 14 attacks.

Sears hit .429, a career high, and was one of four Crusaders to hit at least .400 in the match. Katie Bova (Milwaukee, Wis./Divine Savior Holy Angels) hit .500 with four kills to go along with a match-high 27 assists.

Defensively, freshman Brittany Marks (Elkhart, Ind./Memorial) had a match-high 12 digs in just two games, and Liz Mikos (Dundee, Ill./Jacobs) had three blocks.

Danielle Bochat led Centenary (12-25, 1-12 Mid-Con) with 11 kills. Shayla Andreas had three blocks for the Ladies.

Valpo (23-6, 12-1 Mid-Con) returns to action Sunday afternoon at the ARC for a critical match against Oral Roberts at 2:00 p.m. The Crusaders and Golden Eagles will meet to decide the conference championship, with both teams currently sitting at 12-1 in league play. Valpo will be looking to avenge a 3-2 loss at Oral Roberts earlier this year and win a third-straight Mid-Continent Conference Regular Season Title. Sunday's match can be heard live on 95.1 FM, WVUR, and online at www.valpo.edu/athletics.
