Adam Rykse enters his second season as a graduate assistant for the Valparaiso volleyball program in 2014. Rykse helped guide the Crusaders to 25 wins in his first year in 2013 as Valpo finished in second place in the league standings and earned a spot in the Horizon League title match.
Rykse comes to Valpo from Muskegon C.C., where he served as an assistant coach in 2012 after spending the 2011 season as a hitting instructor. Rykse had previously assisted with video and photo work for statistics at Muskegon. He also served as the school's sports information director for the 2012-2013 school year.
Beyond his duties at Muskegon, Rykse spent the 2012-2013 season as the head coach of the Inside Out Juniors 17-1 team. He also previously served as videographer and statistican at Davenport University from 2006-2009, and spent his high school years as a team manager at Ravenna H.S.
Rykse is a 2012 graduate of Michigan State University, and will pursue his master's in sports administration at Valparaiso. While at MSU, he competed on the nationally-ranked club volleyball team for four years.
