Valparaiso’s women’s basketball team has found out they will travel to Beaumont, Texas on Friday and Saturday for the consolation rounds of the Preseason WNIT.  The Crusaders will face Austin Peay at 5 p.m. on Friday in the first game of the weekend at the Montagne Center on the campus of Lamar University.

The other Friday contest will match the host Cardinals against Utah Valley at approximately 7 p.m.  On Saturday, the two winners will meet at approximately 3 p.m. with two losers from Friday facing off in the first game at 1 p.m.

Valpo suffered an 84-53 setback at DePaul last Friday in the opening round of the WNIT while Austin Peay suffered a 93-53 loss at Purdue.  The two schools have not met one another since Nov. 27, 1993 in Clarkesville, Tenn. when the Crusaders posted a 90-70 win over the Governors.  The Crusaders are 2-0 all-time against Austin Peay.

Lamar dropped its opening round game against Missouri State 83-60 while Utah Valley State suffered an 87-38 defeat at South Dakota State in round one.  Valpo has never faced Lamar or the Wolverines.
