Four days after recording her first career double-double at Northern Illinois, freshman Dani Franklin (Cedar Rapids, Iowa/George Washington) earned Horizon League Freshman of the Week honors, as announced by the league office Monday.

At NIU last Thursday evening, Franklin poured in 13 points (3-for-4 from three-point range) and pulled down 12 rebounds. She followed up that performance with a 12-point, six-rebound night versus Tennessee Tech on Saturday.

Franklin currently leads Valparaiso in scoring (12.0 PPG) and is second in rebounding (8.0 RPG). The Valpo rookie's name is all over the Horizon League leaderboard (3-point FG%, blocks per game, offensive and defensive rebounds per game) and she's finished in double figures in all four games to begin her Crusader career.

Franklin is the first freshman to receive the honor under head coach Tracey Dorow.
