Three Valpo Women’s Basketball Players Named Academic All-District

The Valpo women’s basketball program had three players recognized as Academic All-District honorees as College Sports Communicators (formerly CoSIDA) released its women’s basketball Academic All-District roll on Tuesday.

Fifth-year forward Maya Dunson (Dayton, Ohio/Wayne [Loyola]) owns a perfect 4.00 GPA in Valpo’s public health master’s program. Senior Olivia Brown (East Grand Rapids, Mich./East Grand Rapids [St. Bonaventure]) also boasts a perfect 4.00 GPA as a communication major, while junior Leah Earnest (Stevens Point, Wis./SPASH) has a 3.604 GPA as an exercise science major with minors in human biology and digital media.

The trio all meet CSC academic all-district standards by virtue of having a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or better. To qualify for the honor, individuals also must be starters or important reserves, have reached at least sophomore academic and athletic status and must have been at their institution for at least one calendar year.

All three Beacons will advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot.
