The Valpo women’s basketball team hosted its annual Play4Kay game on Sunday at the ARC, recognizing cancer warriors as the program’s guests of honor and raising money for the battle against all cancers affecting women.
The afternoon started with a special game ball presentation from Kathleen McClure. McClure, whose cancer journey began in 2019 and still continues to this day, has served as the spiritual coach for the women’s basketball program for the last nine years.
At halftime, members of the Valpo football program escorted the day’s guests of honor to center court to be recognized. McClure was joined by Teri Krueger, Libbie Gilliland, Whitney Gold and Marla Liesch as the Beacons and their fans took the opportunity to honor them for their fight against cancer.
Donations are still being accepted through the end of the month. To join the program’s support for the fight against cancer, visit https://charity.pledgeit.org/f/VgNQOcdQkh.
