Late Goal Gives Murray State 1-0 Win over Valpo

Sara Struve scored off of a corner kick with 11:32 remaining in the match to lift Murray State to a 1-0 victory over Valparaiso on Sunday afternoon in Murray, Ky.

The Crusaders outshot the Racers 13-12 for the match but Annie Fortier made eight saves in goal to help preserve the shutout for the hosts. Erin Murray (Pleasanton, Calif./Amador Valley H.S.) made six stops between the posts for the Crusaders to keep the match close.

Valpo had five corner kick opportunities, all in the first half, while Murray State (1-2) won all four of their corners in the second stanza. The Crusaders were whistled for 19 fouls in the contest, 12 in the first half, while Murray State committed just nine on the day.

Valparaiso (1-3) will look to return to the win column on Friday afternoon as the Crusaders travel to Toledo for a 4 p.m. CDT match with the Rockets.
