Griffith Receives Scholar All-Region Accolade

The honors keep rolling in for Valparaiso University women’s soccer junior Cory Griffith (Lemont, Ill./Providence Catholic), the latest coming this week as she was named a Second Team Scholar All-North/Central Region honoree by United Soccer Coaches for her work on the field and in the classroom.

On the field, Griffith tied Valpo’s single-season record with 11 goals scored, good for third in the conference. Five of her goals were of the match-winning variety to tie her own program record and share the conference lead. She also tallied a team-best 25 points – fourth in the conference and second-most in a single season in program history. Griffith ended the season strong, scoring six goals in the Crusaders’ final six matches of the year.

In the classroom, Griffith is a standout as well. She entered her junior year with a 3.78 cumulative GPA as a marketing major.

The Scholar All-Region accolade is just one in a long line for Griffith following her outstanding junior campaign. Griffith was a First Team All-MVC honoree and earned a spot on the United Soccer Coaches Third Team All-Midwest Region squad. She also picked up First Team Scholar-Athlete honors from the MVC as well.
