Joiner Named MVC Offensive Player of the Week

Valpo soccer junior forward Addy Joiner (Chesterton, Ind./Chesterton) has been tabbed the Missouri Valley Conference Offensive Player of the Week following her hat trick in the Beacons’ victory over Chicago State last Thursday.

Joiner opened the scoring against the Cougars in the sixth minute, giving the Beacons the lead for good with a first-time touch off a feed from Lindsey DuSatko. She added an insurance tally for her brace in the 47th minute with a thumper from 25 yards out, and completed her hat trick with a penalty kick in the 52nd minute.

It was the eighth hat trick in program history and the first of Joiner’s collegiate career. It was also the first hat trick by a Valley player this season and moved Joiner into a tie atop the MVC scoring charts this year with four goals. Joiner also cracked the program’s career top-10 chart in goals with her performance Thursday night, as she now is tied for tenth in program history with 14 career goals.

The honor was Joiner’s fourth career weekly award from the MVC office, as she was previously once a Freshman of the Week in her rookie season in 2021 and twice earned Offensive Player of the Week honors last season. She became Valpo’s second weekly award winner of the season, joining Allie Anderson, who was Offensive Player of the Week following opening weekend. 10 players on this year’s roster have now combined for 23 Valley weekly awards dating back to the start of the spring 2021 campaign.
